Intro

Working with The Jockey Club, I delivered a wide range of creative across some of Europe’s most prestigious racing events, including The Cheltenham Festival and The Epsom Derby. My work focused heavily on print and large format design, spanning outdoor campaigns, billboards, brochures, racecards, posters, winners’ podiums, bus liveries and taxi wraps, alongside digital content for social media and large scale screens. The role allowed me to translate established event identities across a diverse range of formats, creating consistent and engaging creative experienced by hundreds of thousands of racegoers.

Approach

The approach was centred around consistency, adaptability and an understanding of how design performs at every scale. Working within established event identities, I translated each visual language across a wide range of touchpoints, from detailed racecards and brochures to billboards, transport liveries and large scale environmental graphics. Each application required careful consideration of hierarchy, typography, imagery and impact while remaining instantly recognisable as part of the same event. This created a flexible design approach that maintained strong brand recognition while delivering engaging creative for every audience interaction.

Results

The work formed part of the wider creative and marketing activity behind a hugely successful year for The Jockey Club. My designs supported the promotion and delivery of the 2024 Cheltenham Festival, which achieved over 220,000 ticket sales, alongside record attendance at The Derby Festival. Across both events, the creative reached audiences throughout the entire experience, from initial campaign activity to the racecourse itself, demonstrating how consistent and impactful design can build excitement, strengthen event identity and support commercial success.
